Midnight Forecastle LLC · Rhode Island
Small studio. Steady hand. One plan at a time.
A one-person software studio working the night watch. We build tools that ask you to say what you intend before you act — and then help you look honestly at what actually happened.
What we build
Four lines of work, at four different stages. Each one is small on purpose.

In development
Hold the Plan: Golf Discipline
A golf companion built around one habit: declare your plan before the shot, then report what actually happened after it. Over a round, the gap between the two becomes the thing you can work on.

In development
Local LLM development
Language models that run on hardware you already own — a laptop, or a small machine in the corner of the office — rather than on someone else’s servers. No API keys, no per-token metering, and nothing you type leaving the building.
The work is practical rather than academic: fitting capable models onto modest hardware, wiring them into tools that do one specific job well, and keeping the whole path inspectable end to end. It earns its keep wherever the data is private enough that sending it away was never really an option.

Photo & film digitization
Local pickup-and-return scanning for photographs, slides, and home movies. Your originals come back to you along with clean digital copies — no shipping boxes of irreplaceable film across the country.

Building the portfolio
AI video production
AI-assisted video for small businesses that need something better than a phone clip and lighter than a full production crew. Currently taking on early projects to build out the reel.
About
Midnight Forecastle LLC is run by one person, nights and weekends, from Rhode Island. That shapes what gets built: fewer things, finished properly, with no pressure to grow faster than the work deserves.
If you write in, you are writing to the person who does the building.
Where the name comes from
On a ship, the forecastle is the deck at the bow — the forward-most place you can stand, where the lookout keeps watch. At midnight it is dark, quiet, and a long way from the harbor lights.
It seemed like the right name for work done in the small hours, looking ahead.
